I dreamed about a cat last night, which either means I should adopt a stray, or that someone is trying to kill me. Probably the former. Probably.
Adopting a stray anything has been on my mind for a couple of years. But I have 2 kids 3 and under and my hands (and patience) are FULL. Plus, Husband and I totally plan on using the notion of getting a pet to blackmail our kids. You want a dog? Well.... first you’ll have to demonstrate how responsible you are! When you’ve learned to do your own laundry AND make a cheesecake, then we’ll talk.
Still, there’s no harm in shopping around. So every now and then I’ll go online and mentally adopt 50 cats.
One day in law school, I hopped onto Petfinder.com to explore the feasibility of adopting a horse. I normally sat in the front row of the class, because I’m unable to focus on anything when I sit in back what with all those distracting backs-of-heads. Since the seats were auditorium-style, this meant that the people in the row behind me could see my laptop screen, and the people behind them could see their laptop screens, etc.
A friend of mine who religiously sat in the back of the classroom, like a NORMAL student, said that by the end of that class, nearly everyone was on Petfinder.
I’m a leader like that.

you and I share a "future crazy cat lady" heart!
I just adopted a kitten. She's amazing and fits right in to our family. Plus, she was in a shelter, so as a rescued animal, I think she knows she was saved into a good home so she's extra lovey dovey. What I'm sayin is, do it.
I have never even heard of petfinder.com but now I think I may have to check it out.
Why in the world were you looking at adopting a horse?! Not that there is anything wrong with horses but they are rather large, need a great deal of room and well, they are horses . . . I guess I don't see them as pets.

Now don't get me wrong, I like cats, and have been owned by several myself (people are just kidding themselves if they think they can own a cat; that's just absurd), but I don't do litter boxes so my cats have always been indoor/outdoor cats. But have you thought that maybe the dream meant you were just supposed to blog about cats again? Just a thought.
@SarcasamInAction - see, there's the whole litterbox thing. Plus when you own a pet, you need to do things like feed it and take it to the vet, and I can barely manage feeding my kids. Maybe sometime in the future!
@FoxInTheCity - who HASN'T thought about adopting a horse?
@Handflapper - I honestly think you are right. All of these cat experiences came my way SOLELY for the purpose of giving me something to blog about. Life is funny like that.
Oh I have a cat for you...hes beautiful black and white and has no front claws and is fixed and he lounges like no ones business... but you should know the kids and the dog come with him and they are NOT declawed fixed or even somewhat well behaved..
They are being fedExed to you RIGHT NOW...
I don't know what @SarcasmInAction means by "future" carzy cat ladies. I think between her adopting a kittin and parading it around on twitter, and you blogging and dreaming about cats every day, you're both crazy cat ladies PRESENT TENSE. Jin me on the dark side ladies.
@Julia - the FedEx truck shows up in our neighborhood every single day, so even if you forgot to poke some airholes in the box, they should all be ok. By the way, is airhole a word? It sort of sounds like a dirty one. I like it.
@Marianna Annadanna - Apparently these posts have pitted the cat people against the non-cat people, in what will only result in WWIII.
I love the 10% of your brain. Leader...
